General questions

TDM Signage is a digital signage platform that enables organisations to create, manage, and schedule content across one or more screens from a central web-based environment. The current version, TDM5, includes a content designer, media library, scheduling tools, data source connections, and player management.

It supports a range of hardware including Android players, Windows PC players, LG webOS displays, and Samsung Tizen displays. The platform is managed via a browser and accessed at tdm5.tdmsignage.com.

Digital signage refers to screens used to display information, media, or messages in a controlled and updateable way. Unlike static printed posters, digital screens can be updated remotely, show scheduled content, display live data, and cycle through multiple items automatically.

Common uses include internal communications, menu boards, meeting room displays, wayfinding, and public information screens.

Digital signage software lets you create content, organise it into playlists, assign it to screens, and schedule when it plays. It also manages connected player devices, shows whether players are online, and can pull in live data from external sources.

TDM5 includes a built-in designer, a media library, scheduling tools, data source connections, user management, and a reseller portal.

TDM5 is used by organisations of various sizes and sectors, including offices, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, schools, healthcare facilities, and manufacturing sites. It supports single-screen setups as well as multi-location deployments managed from one environment.

A reseller portal is also available for agencies and partners managing signage on behalf of clients.

No. TDM5 is available through three subscription tiers - Essential, Small Business, and Enterprise - which means it suits organisations of different sizes and budgets. A single screen in a small business is a valid use case. The Essential plan supports Android-based devices and covers the core content creation and scheduling features needed to get started.

TDM5 includes a drag-and-drop designer, a library of demo templates that can be imported directly, and video tutorials accessible from within the platform and on YouTube.

These resources are designed to help new users get started without requiring technical expertise. More advanced features such as custom data sources and user group management are available for those who need them.

Not for everyday tasks. Creating pages, uploading media, assigning content to players, and setting up schedules can all be done without a technical background.

Some configurations - such as setting up data sources, installing players on specific devices, or configuring Single Sign-On - may benefit from IT involvement, particularly in larger or more complex deployments.

Yes, it is accessed via a web browser. Subscriptions are managed online, content is created and stored in the platform, and players connect to the environment over the internet to receive updates. Media can be stored in TDM5's built-in storage or linked from OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive.

Yes. Once a player is connected to your TDM5 environment, you can assign content, update playlists, and change schedules from anywhere with internet access. You do not need to physically visit a screen to make changes. The platform also shows whether each player is currently online.

A USB stick requires someone to physically visit every screen, copy updated files, and swap the device. With TDM5, content changes are pushed remotely from a central environment.

You can update a single screen or many screens simultaneously, schedule content in advance, display live data, and monitor whether screens are online - none of which is possible with a USB-based approach.

Getting started

You can create a trial account at https://tdm5.tdmsignage.com/freetrial, which includes two demo licences valid for 30 days and has no feature limitations based on the subscription you select during setup.

Once you have an account, log in to your TDM5 environment, register your players, upload or create content, and assign it to your screens. Demo templates are available to download from tdm5.tdmsignage.com/pages to help you begin quickly.

Setup time depends on the number of screens, the complexity of your content, and your team's familiarity with the platform. A basic single-screen setup using a provided template can be operational quickly.

Larger deployments involving multiple locations, custom data sources, user groups, or network configuration will require more planning time.

You need a TDM5 account, at least one compatible player device, a screen to connect it to, and an internet connection at the screen's location.

Network requirements include access to *.tdmsignage.com and open ports 80, 443, and 15676. If you plan to use external media storage, a OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive account is also needed.

Yes. A free trial account is available at https://tdm5.tdmsignage.com/freetrial. It includes two demo licences valid for 30 days and access to all features of the subscription tier you choose during setup.

This allows you to test the platform fully before committing to a paid subscription.

Yes. The platform works for single-screen setups as well as large multi-screen deployments. There is no requirement to manage multiple screens to use the platform effectively.

Yes. TDM5 lets you manage screens across different physical locations from one environment. Players in different buildings, cities, or countries can all be connected and organised into groups, making it straightforward to assign content or schedules by location.

Yes, in many cases you can move from another digital signage platform to TDM Signage. The process usually involves reviewing your existing hardware, exporting or recreating content, setting up users, connecting screens, and rebuilding playlists or schedules.

The exact migration process depends on your current platform and screen setup.

Screens, devices, and media players

TDM5 supports Sony Bravia, Philips D-Line, Samsung Signage displays (via Tizen), LG Signage displays (via webOS), Android-based players, and Windows PC players.

Compatibility depends on the specific model, TDM5 subscription tier, and player type. Not every consumer TV or commercial screen model is guaranteed to be compatible - confirm with TDM Signage before purchasing hardware.

Standard consumer televisions are not designed for continuous signage operation and lack the ports and software needed to run a player reliably.

A Windows PC or Android player connected to a consumer TV via HDMI may work in practice, but commercial signage displays are recommended for any deployment intended to run continuously. Compatibility is not guaranteed with consumer TV models.

A media player is the device that runs the signage software and sends content to the display. It receives content from the TDM5 environment, stores it locally, and plays it on screen.

TDM5 supports Android players and Windows PC players. Some commercial displays (such as LG webOS and Samsung Tizen) have built-in player capability, removing the need for a separate device.

You need an external player when the screen has no built-in compatible signage OS. If you are using a standard monitor, a consumer TV, or a commercial screen without a supported built-in OS, an Android or Windows PC player connected via HDMI provides the player function.

Android players are available on all plans; the Windows PC player requires the Small Business plan or above.

Yes. Players need an internet connection to receive content updates and communicate with the TDM5 environment.

The platform requires access to *.tdmsignage.com on ports 80, 443, and 15676. Setup, content management, and scheduling are all performed via the web-based interface.

TDM5 players receive content from the environment over the internet. Once content has been downloaded to a player, it can continue to play locally if the connection is temporarily interrupted.

However, new content updates, schedule changes, and data source refreshes require an active connection. The platform is not designed for fully offline operation.

Yes. TDM5 supports both orientations. Pages in the designer can be created at the dimensions appropriate for portrait or landscape screens, and separate content should be designed for each orientation to display correctly.

The Windows PC player in TDM5 supports stretching content across multiple connected screens, which can be used for video wall configurations. The specific setup depends on your hardware and display arrangement.

Yes. Provided each player has an internet connection and can reach the TDM5 network, screens can be located anywhere and managed from a single environment.

Content creation

TDM5 supports images, videos (including YouTube), audio, websites, PowerPoint presentations, QR codes, date and time displays, slideshows, text blocks, shapes, tickertapes, and widgets.

You can also display live data from connected sources such as calendars, weather feeds, news widgets, Power BI dashboards, and social media accounts.

Yes. Images can be uploaded to TDM5's built-in storage (up to 1 GB per file) or accessed from OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive. Once uploaded, images are added to pages as elements and can be configured to display using contain, fill, or cover modes.

Yes. Videos can be uploaded to TDM5's built-in storage or referenced via a URL for streaming. YouTube videos can be embedded directly using a video ID or full URL. Note that streaming via URL does not create a local copy on the player, which may increase data usage depending on the player's connection.

Yes. TDM5 includes a WebView element that allows you to display a website URL on a page. The URL can be entered manually or linked to a data source. Whether a website can be embedded depends on the site's own settings — some sites restrict display within frames.

Yes. TDM5 includes a built-in designer where you can create pages using elements including text blocks, images, videos, shapes, QR codes, slideshows, Power BI, and more. Each element has configurable properties. Demo templates are available to download and import as a starting point.

No. The TDM5 designer is intended to be accessible without graphic design skills. Pre-built demo templates are available to customise, and elements can be adjusted with your own text, colours, images, and logos. Custom fonts can be uploaded on the Small Business plan and above to match your brand identity.

For landscape Full HD screens, design at 1920 × 1080 pixels. For 4K displays, use 3840 × 2160 pixels. When importing PowerPoint files into TDM5, setting the slide size to match the screen resolution (e.g., 67.729 cm × 38.1 cm for 1920 × 1080, or 101.6 cm × 57.15 cm for 4K) ensures content is imported at the correct quality.

Keep text minimal. Screens are viewed from a distance and often in passing, so dense text is rarely read. Use short headlines, key points, or brief call-to-action phrases. If more detail is needed, spread it across multiple slides in a playlist rather than cramming it onto one page.

Specific supported formats depend on the player device and operating system. As general practice, MP4 (H.264) is widely compatible across digital signage players. For device-specific format requirements, check the TDM5 knowledge base at helpdesk.tdmsignage.com or contact support.

Yes. TDM5 supports Facebook and Instagram data sources for displaying posts, images, and videos from company accounts. A LinkedIn integration was introduced in TDM5.3, though it was still under LinkedIn's review process at time of release. TikTok content can also be displayed via the TikTok data source.

Yes. TDM5 supports a range of external data sources including weather (OpenWeather), calendars (Office365, Google Calendar, Exchange), Dutch news (NOS), RSS/XML feeds (via custom data source), train schedules (NS), Power BI dashboards, SharePoint, and social media accounts. Data sources reload periodically.

Yes. Pages, playlists, and media files created in TDM5 can be assigned to any number of players within the same environment. A single piece of content can play on screens across different rooms, departments, or locations simultaneously without being recreated.

Playlists and scheduling

A playlist is a collection of pages or media items that play in sequence on a screen. In TDM5, playlists are separate from individual pages — a page is a designed layout, while a playlist defines the order and timing of what is shown. A playlist is assigned to a player to define its regular content.

Scheduling controls when specific content plays on a screen. In TDM5, you can create schedules that activate content at set times or dates, add temporary content on top of an existing playlist, or hide content during defined periods. Schedules can be applied to individual players or groups of players.

Yes. Scheduling supports time-based rules, so different content can play in the morning compared with the afternoon or evening. This is useful in canteens, hotels, retail stores, and any environment where messaging needs to change throughout the day.

Indirectly, yes. By organising players into groups based on location and assigning schedules to those groups, you can manage content per location without configuring each screen individually.

Yes. Each player can have its own playlist and schedule assigned. Content can be completely different per screen, or you can use shared playlists with location-specific additions depending on your setup.

When a schedule's end time or date is reached, the player returns to the playlist that was active before the schedule took effect, or reverts to the default content assigned to that player.

Managing screens

All connected players appear within your TDM5 environment and can be managed centrally. Content, playlists, and schedules are assigned from the same interface. Organising players into groups makes it easier to apply changes to many screens at once.

Use names that clearly identify the screen's location and purpose — for example, "Reception Ground Floor" or "Canteen North Entrance". Clear naming reduces confusion when managing many players and when assigning schedules or content to specific devices.

Screen groups allow you to organise players into logical sets, such as by location, department, or content zone. Schedules and content assignments can be applied to groups rather than individual players, which simplifies management at scale.

Tags are labels that can be applied to content or screens to make filtering and organisation easier. For specific information on how tags are implemented in TDM5, refer to the knowledge base at helpdesk.tdmsignage.com or contact support.

Yes. TDM5 displays the connection status of each registered player, including whether it is currently online or showing a critical status. This allows you to identify connection issues without visiting the physical screen.

Yes. Content changes, playlist updates, and schedule modifications made in TDM5 are delivered to players automatically over the internet. Physical access to a screen is not required to change what it displays.

Yes. TDM5 includes a Reseller Portal for agencies and partners to manage multiple customer environments, licences, and orders. Access to the Reseller Portal is requested by contacting support@tdmsignage.com.

Yes. Players can be removed from a TDM5 environment. The licence previously assigned to that player can then be reassigned to another device, depending on your subscription and licence terms.

Users and permissions

Yes. TDM5 supports multiple users within a single environment. Users can be invited to join the environment and assigned to User Groups that define their level of access.

Yes. User Groups in TDM5 allow administrators to assign specific permissions to sets of users. For example, a Content Scheduler can work with playlists but may have restricted access to player management or billing.

Administrator access should be limited to those responsible for overall platform management - typically IT or a dedicated signage manager. Administrators can manage subscriptions, users, data sources, and all environment settings. Others who only create or schedule content should be given more restricted roles.

Yes. User Group permissions can restrict local teams to the players and content areas relevant to them, while a central administrator retains oversight of the full environment.

Resellers and agencies can access client environments through the Reseller Portal using a request access or claim access workflow. Direct external access requires the account holder to grant it. Resellers can also invite additional team members to their own reseller environment.

Integrations and data sources

Yes. TDM5 supports a range of data source connections: Weather (OpenWeather), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn (under review at TDM5.3), TikTok, Office365 Calendar, Google Calendar, Exchange, Power BI, SharePoint, Zermelo, NS (Dutch train schedules), Realworks, and custom RSS/XML feeds. Availability of some integrations depends on your subscription tier.

Within the available integrations, yes. SharePoint data can be displayed on screens, and the custom data source option supports any RSS/XML feed accessible via HTTP or FTP, which includes many internal information systems. For more complex integration requirements, contact TDM Signage directly.

Pricing and plans

TDM5 is available through three subscription tiers: Essential, Small Business, and Enterprise. Specific pricing is not listed here. Cost depends on your subscription tier, the number of licences, any additional modules, and hardware requirements. Contact TDM Signage via tdmsignage.com for a quote.

TDM5 uses a licence-based model where each player requires a licence. The number of licences needed corresponds to the number of active screens or players in your environment. Additional licences can be ordered through the platform or via a reseller.

Hardware is not automatically included in a software subscription. Plug-and-play Android players can be ordered during the TDM5 subscription process at an additional cost. Hardware pricing is separate from software licences.

Software licences cover access to the platform. Plug-and-play Android players are available to purchase during the ordering process. Whether a player is included in any specific arrangement depends on your order or reseller agreement.

Installation services are not described as part of the standard subscription. Whether installation support is available as an add-on depends on your arrangement with TDM Signage or a local reseller. Contact TDM Signage to discuss installation options.

TDM5 includes video tutorials accessible from within the designer and on the TDM Signage YouTube channel, as well as a knowledge base at helpdesk.tdmsignage.com. Whether formal training sessions are included depends on your plan. Contact TDM Signage for details.

Yes. Subscription upgrades can be done directly from the Licence Plans page within your TDM5 environment. Payment is processed through Mollie, and the updated subscription is active once payment is complete.

Orders can be cancelled before they are processed. Specific terms for cancelling an active subscription are not detailed in the available documentation. Refer to the terms associated with your subscription or contact TDM Signage directly.

Additional licences can be ordered through the platform or via the Reseller Portal. Resellers have the option to temporarily extend licences by two weeks if a renewal is pending but not yet processed.

Each player requires a licence regardless of location. Screens in different locations managed within the same environment each require their own licence. A single TDM5 environment can manage players across multiple sites.

Security and compliance

TDM5 includes user authentication, User Group-based access controls, and Single Sign-On (SSO) via Azure AD. Administrator access is required for sensitive settings such as data sources, users, and licences. For detailed information on data security and infrastructure, contact TDM Signage directly.

Yes. TDM5 uses User Groups to control what different users can access and do within the environment. Roles limit access to relevant areas of the platform, preventing unintended changes to player settings, billing, or administrative functions.

Yes. User Groups allow specific permissions to be assigned to different team members. A content creator can work in the designer without accessing player management or billing, and local teams can be restricted to their own screens.

Content stored in your TDM5 environment is associated with your account. Different customer environments are separate within the platform. Resellers can access a customer's environment only through the request access or claim access workflow, both of which trigger notifications to the account holder and TDM administrators.

The platform can display information from connected data sources, which may include personal data depending on what you connect. You are responsible for ensuring that any personal data shown on screens complies with applicable data protection laws.

The available documentation does not make explicit statements about GDPR compliance. If this is a requirement for your organisation, contact TDM Signage directly to understand their data processing practices, storage locations, and any applicable data processing agreements.

Yes. Internal communication is a core use case - screens can show KPI dashboards via Power BI, meeting room schedules from calendar integrations, SharePoint information, company announcements, canteen menus, and safety messages. User permissions allow departments to manage their own screens while retaining central oversight.

Yes. The platform supports customer-facing screens in retail, hospitality, transport, healthcare, and public environments. Operators are responsible for ensuring content complies with local regulations, including any rules about advertising, public communications, or personal data.

Limit administrator access to a small number of trusted users, use User Groups to restrict access for others, and follow your organisation's standard authentication policies. If SSO via Azure AD is available in your IT infrastructure, configuring it for TDM5 provides an additional authentication layer.

Support and training

TDM Signage provides support via support@tdmsignage.com and through the knowledge base at helpdesk.tdmsignage.com. Specific support terms, service levels, and response times are not detailed in the available documentation - contact TDM Signage for information relevant to your subscription.

This is not specified in detail in the available documentation. Contact TDM Signage directly to discuss what onboarding assistance is available as part of your subscription or as an additional service.

TDM5 includes built-in video tutorials accessible from within the designer and hosted on the TDM Signage YouTube channel. A library of step-by-step guides is available in the knowledge base. Whether structured training sessions are available as part of a subscription depends on your plan.

This is not specified in the available documentation. TDM Signage provides the platform tools; content strategy would typically be handled internally or through a content agency. Contact TDM Signage to ask about any advisory services available.

The platform documentation lists supported hardware including Android players, Windows PC players, LG webOS displays, Samsung Tizen displays, Sony Bravia, and Philips D-Line. For specific hardware recommendations based on your environment and budget, contact TDM Signage or a local reseller.

Yes. TDM5 includes a dedicated Reseller Portal for managing customer environments, licences, and orders. Partners who need access can request it by contacting support@tdmsignage.com.
